eDPI formula
For a game that uses the conventional relationship, eDPI = mouse DPI × in-game sensitivity. If your mouse is 800 DPI and your game sensitivity is 0.5, the resulting eDPI is 400.
Why players use eDPI
Raw DPI alone does not tell you how sensitive a game feels. eDPI combines the mouse-side and game-side numbers into one convenient value, making it easier to compare configurations within the same title.
eDPI is game-specific
Do not assume that an eDPI of 800 has identical physical meaning in every game. Games can use different sensitivity scales, yaw constants, FOV behavior and input pipelines. For cross-game comparison, cm/360 can be more informative.
Example calculations
| DPI | Game sensitivity | eDPI |
|---|---|---|
| 400 | 1.0 | 400 |
| 800 | 0.5 | 400 |
| 1600 | 0.25 | 400 |
These combinations have the same simple eDPI number, but the exact in-game behavior still depends on the game's input model.
