eDPI Calculator
eDPI, or effective DPI, is your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. This calculator gives you eDPI instantly, solves for the DPI you need to reach a target eDPI at a given sensitivity, and compares two setups side by side.
How to use the eDPI Calculator
- Enter your mouse DPI and in-game sensitivity to get eDPI.
- Use the reverse solver to find the DPI needed for a target eDPI at your sensitivity.
- Use compare mode to check two DPI and sensitivity pairs against each other.
- Check your game's conventions before trusting a cross-game comparison.
Understanding your results
The formula is eDPI = DPI × sensitivity. 800 DPI at 1.2 gives 960 eDPI, and so does 1600 DPI at 0.6. Within one game, matching eDPI gives the same speed.
Games scale sensitivity differently, so to compare across games convert to distance with the cm/360 calculator.
Worked examples: eDPI in practice
eDPI is DPI multiplied by in-game sensitivity. Here are three quick examples:
- Same eDPI, different settings: 800 DPI at 0.40 = 320 eDPI, and 1600 DPI at 0.20 = 320 eDPI. Inside one game these two setups feel the same.
- Reverse solver: you want 280 eDPI and your sensitivity is 0.35. DPI = 280 ÷ 0.35 = 800.
- Compare mode: 1600 DPI × 0.30 = 480 eDPI, and 800 DPI × 0.60 = 480 eDPI. They match, so you can switch between them without changing how the game feels.
When two setups have different eDPI, the larger one turns faster for the same hand movement. Use the difference as a guide for how big a change you are making before you try it in game.
Limits of eDPI and how to avoid mistakes
- eDPI only compares within one game. A sensitivity of 1.0 in one game does not turn the same distance as 1.0 in another. To compare across games, convert to distance with the cm/360 calculator.
- Know your real DPI. If the mouse is set differently from what you entered, the answer is wrong. Check it with the DPI analyzer.
- Watch rounding. Games only accept certain decimal places, so a target eDPI may land a little above or below your goal.
- Do not copy a number blindly. A professional player's eDPI is shaped by their desk, arm style and display, so use it as a reference, not a target.

eDPI Calculator FAQ
What is eDPI?
Effective DPI: mouse DPI multiplied by in-game sensitivity. See what is eDPI.
Can I compare eDPI across games?
Not directly, because each game uses its own scaling. Use cm/360 instead.
How do I find my DPI?
Use your mouse software or the DPI analyzer.
