Mouse Sensitivity Demonstration

This tool shows what a sensitivity multiplier does. A grey dot follows your pointer as the browser reports it, and a cyan dot follows the same motion scaled by the multiplier you choose, so you can see how doubling or halving sensitivity changes movement.

How to use the Sensitivity Tool

  1. Move the slider to choose a multiplier between 0.25 and 4.
  2. Move your mouse inside the test area.
  3. Compare the distance travelled by the grey dot and the cyan dot.
  4. Try 0.5 and 2 to see half and double movement.

Understanding your results

This is a mathematical demonstration, not your operating system or in-game sensitivity. It illustrates the idea behind DPI vs sensitivity: the final speed is the product of two layers.

To compare real setups, use the eDPI calculator or the cm/360 calculator.

Worked example: the multiplier in numbers

The grey dot follows your pointer exactly. The cyan dot follows the same movement multiplied by the value you choose. If your real pointer travels 400 px:

MultiplierCyan dot travels
0.25100 px
0.5200 px
2800 px
41,600 px

This is the same idea as changing sensitivity in a game: doubling the multiplier doubles the distance the view or crosshair moves for the same hand movement. It is also why 1600 DPI at a sensitivity of 1.0 feels like 800 DPI at 2.0: the two layers multiply to the same result.

How to use this idea with your real settings

  • Remember there are two layers. DPI is set in the mouse hardware, and sensitivity is a software multiplier on top. Read DPI vs sensitivity for the full picture.
  • Use eDPI for a single number. Multiply the two layers with the eDPI calculator so you can compare setups quickly.
  • Use cm/360 for distance. The cm/360 calculator converts your settings into the physical distance you move to turn around in a game.
  • Change in small steps. Large jumps make it hard to judge a new setting. Move about 10 to 15% at a time and play for a few days.
  • Game-specific advice. Different games use different scaling, so see the guides for Fortnite and Minecraft, as well as Valorant and CS2.

A good habit is to write down your DPI, your in-game sensitivity and the resulting eDPI before you change anything, so you can always return to a setup that felt right.

This page only draws a scaled copy of your movement. It does not change any setting on your computer.

Sensitivity Tool FAQ

Does this change my real sensitivity?

No. It only draws a scaled copy of your pointer movement on the page.

Why use a multiplier demo?

It makes the relationship between sensitivity and movement visible without changing any system setting.

How do I choose a real sensitivity?

See best DPI for gaming and the eDPI guide.
